Darkroom is a bar and venue located in Christchurch, New Zealand.
== History ==
The bar opened in October 2011, as one of the first venues to open just eight months after the devastating 2011 Christchurch earthquake which closed most venues in the city. Almost entirely self-renovated by its owners, the bar also operates a small complex which includes record store Galaxy Records (displaced from its central city location due to the earthquakes), local radio station RDU and an art gallery.
Darkroom hosts regular music,〔(p.19 )〕 theatre, comedy and other events, including international acts such as MC Lars, Blues Control, Eric Copeland, Pairs, Mark McGuire, Shenandoah Davis and Sherry Rich as well as many New Zealand acts including Opossom, Flip Grater, Street Chant, Bang Bang Eche, The Unfaithful Ways, Collapsing Cities, Pikachunes, Delaney Davidson, The Axemen, Peter Gutteridge, T54, Disasteradio and Bachelorette.
The bar is one of the few remaining completely independent bars in the city, and stocks an ever-changing selection of four real ales on hand pump, around 40 bottled craft beers from a range of New Zealand brewers, and a large selection of spirits.
